After spending the month of February researching, reading, and learning, students in the third grade welcomed their Lower School peers to visit their Black History Museum.
The project began with the introduction of Martin Luther King Jr. and a discussion of the civil rights movement. Students then entered their research phase, where they read a book about a notable Black leader, collected photos, found fun facts, and developed a slideshow.
This project expanded into their art classes where they worked with Lower School art teachers Rama Hughes and Christine Terry to create portraits and an illustrated story of Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education.
Upper School students of Spanish 3 Honors, Spanish 4 Honors, and AP Spanish attended the dress rehearsal of the opera, El último sueño de Frida y Diego, and stopped for lunch at the Pueblo de Los Angeles on Olvera Street.
