What is your favorite Buckley memory? “My favorite Buckley memory was spending time with my friends during free periods at the library tables. Not only was it a great environment to study, but everyone would sit together and constantly laugh. The library tables became a place that we would look forward to spending time at during our stressful day.” What advice would you give to incoming freshmen? “First of all, congrats on entering high school! These next four years are going to go by so fast that you need to make sure to enjoy every minute. High school is a place to grow, mature, and understand the importance of morals. This first year counts just as much as the other three years because you are creating a foundation for yourself, whether that be picking classes for your schedule or surrounding yourself with people that will support you. Have fun, don’t procrastinate, and know that you always have someone to turn to at Buckley.” Congrats, Brontë! ????? This year it was virtual, hosted by our dance faculty, Laura Bamford and Brittany Daniels, along with world-renowned professional dancers. Throughout the day, students took master classes in West African dance with Makeda Kumasi, Hula with Joselyn Arciaga, and Middle Eastern Bellydance with Shannon Lewallen. The goal of the WDW is to give students an immersive day of cultural and artistic diversity through dance. By taking these classes, dance students deepen their understanding of the way dance helps to define and connect people within their own culture, as well as the ways dance connects people across cultures, socioeconomic differences, gender, and personal identities.
