Trip to Yucatán
Ancient Maya cities, crystal-clear cenotes, vibrant cultural traditions, and breathtaking natural landscapes provided the backdrop for this year’s G-Term experience in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Through visits to archaeological sites, interactions with local communities, and opportunities to explore the region’s unique ecosystems, Buckley participants gained a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of history, culture, and the environment.

Yosemite Backpacking
Students embarked on a backpacking adventure through the breathtaking wilderness of Yosemite, challenging themselves on the trail while building resilience, teamwork, and confidence. Surrounded by towering granite cliffs, alpine landscapes, and unforgettable views, they embraced the spirit of exploration and gained lasting memories through this immersive outdoor experience.
Washington, D.C.
Grade 8 students embark on a multifaceted experience to Washington, D.C. that enriches their knowledge and appreciation of American history, culture, and government. This 5-day trip incorporates a robust itinerary which includes a guided evening sightseeing tour of the Memorials coupled with a reflection on U.S. history, a ferry ride to Mount Vernon in Virginia, followed by a tour of George Washington’s estate and gardens, a visit to the National Museum of African-American History and Culture, the Holocaust Museum, and Arlington National Cemetery.
American South Trip
Travelers set off on an exciting adventure through the American South, with stops in cities such as Birmingham and New Orleans. Along the way, they explored the region’s rich history, vibrant culture, and unique landmarks while experiencing new perspectives beyond the classroom. Through sightseeing, guided visits, and immersive learning opportunities, students gained a deeper understanding of the people, places, and stories that have shaped the South.
G-Term Experience
Griffin Term is designed to help students discover new interests, deepen existing passions, and learn beyond the traditional classroom. Each June, students in grades 6–11 choose from a wide range of immersive experiences, including on-campus workshops, local explorations, and domestic and international travel opportunities. Whether building a brain-computer interface, producing a theater performance, exploring Los Angeles through architecture and food, or studying history firsthand on a Civil Rights tour, students engage in meaningful, hands-on learning alongside their teachers and peers.
Cannes
Grade 11 students enrolled in advanced French, French cinema and all levels of film studies travel to Cannes, France to attend the Cannes Film Festival! This 8-day trip includes a tour of Côte d’Azur (French Riviera), visits to Nice, nearby museums such as the Fondation Maeght, and the renowned perfumeries in and around Grasse. In addition, students intern with The American Pavilion at the Film Festival, an opportunity typically reserved for students from top American universities, making Buckley the only high school in the country to participate!
Palm Springs
Upper School students in philosophy and environmental science classes embark on a day-long whirlwind trip to Palm Springs each January. Once in the crisp clear air of the desert, they learn about the interconnection of plants, animals (including humans!), and the elements. Making seven stops through the town and neighboring canyons, they experience the stark contrast between civilization and wild outdoors.

Downtown L.A.
Multiple groups of Upper School students take field trips to DTLA each year, to experience art and performances, to explore neighborhoods, and engage in service learning. Past trips include taking in the L.A. Opera, taking a walking tour of City Hall and other historic landmarks, and a visit to the arts district.
Buckley in New York: Model United Nations
Members of the Model UN join students from all over the country at the United Nations each spring to flex their diplomacy muscles and engage in the work they’ve been preparing for all year. They also use the trip as a catalyst to explore the Big Apple. Destinations and activities have included ice skating in Central Park, the 9/11 Memorial, a Broadway show, and more.

Buckley in New York: Music & Theatre
Students embarked on an unforgettable journey to New York City, immersing themselves in the vibrant world of theater, music, and the arts. The trip offered students the opportunity to experience a Broadway production, enjoy a jazz performance at Lincoln Center, and tour the iconic Carnegie Hall. Through these experiences, students gained a deeper appreciation for the creativity, history, and artistry that make New York City a cultural center of the world.
Buckley in New York: Art & Architecture
Students visited renowned institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Judd Foundation, and MOMA, while also spending time in galleries throughout the city. From landmark collections to contemporary exhibitions and the workspaces and legacies of influential artists, each visit offered students an opportunity to engage with art beyond the classroom.
Outdoor Education
Outdoor Ed inspires students to step beyond the classroom and into the world around them. Through hands-on experiences in nature, students develop curiosity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of themselves and their environment.
