Bring Your Own Laptop Program

• Does this mean that students will be able to use their technology anywhere on campus?

  No. Our Electronic Use Policy is still in place. In addition, it is up to the discretion of each teacher as to how and when students may use their laptops in class.

• What are the advantages to having a BYOL program?

  When all students are equipped with laptops, they do not have to take the time to check them out from the library or a laptop cart, making class time more efficient and productive. Instituting a formal BYOL program is also a catalyst for students and teachers to further embrace critical inquiry and laboratory-style curricula in the classroom. 
  
  Having your child bring their own device minimizes cross-contamination of bacteria and viruses left on shared devices. 

• What if my child forgets their laptop at home?

  We will have loaner laptops available for students on a temporary basis.

• What if my child’s laptop is lost, stolen, or damaged on school property?

  We encourage all students to password protect their laptops and to purchase a lock for their lockers to keep their devices safe at all times. The school assumes no responsibility for any personal property that is lost, stolen, or damaged. We will require all laptops to be registered with the school via our wireless system at the beginning of the year.

• WHAT IF THE LAPTOP I ORDERED WON’T ARRIVE ON TIME?

  For new families: We will provide a loaner laptop for students on a temporary basis. Please email Director of Technology Jose Tagle at jtagle@buckley.org to coordinate access to a loaner laptop.
