    Join our energizing after-school “Maths Bonanza” class with games, manipulatives, and hands-on creations that will help build math skills and motivate participants to experience the beauty of math in our world.

  • CANCELLED: Street Art Rebel | Grades 3-5

    This inspired course will shed light on the origins of how this art form was created. It will also introduce students to various Graffiti artists and provide them with a basic understanding of the various lettering styles, tags, stenciling, and street art concepts.

  • CANCELLED: Tae Kwon Do | Grades 3-5

    This class, taught by a black belt in the art, includes meditation, stretching, and basic Tae-Kwon-Do techniques. The students will learn self-control, focus, and the importance of self-discipline, and they will gain self-confidence.

    Please note this class is for our third through fifth grade students only. Younger students may enroll in the Friday session.

  • Extended Day Program | Grades K-5

    Our extended day program is offered daily from the conclusion of Beyond the Bell programs at 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to refresh with an allergen-free snack, engage in supervised playtime, enjoy a good book, or work on completing school assignments. Participants must sign up for a Beyond the Bell program for each day of the week that they enroll in the extended day program. Students will be picked up each day by no later than 6:00 p.m.

  • Fun, Games, and Fitness with Coach Holland | Grades 1-2

    This program will cover many of the games and activities that we study in physical education. We will play a variety of sports while working on skill development, sportsmanship, and team work. This program is designed for the children to have lots of FUN and find success at every turn.

  • Junior Dance with Mrs. Adi | Grades K-2

    This fun upbeat dance class introduces students to various dance styles. Students will learn the history and origin of each dance style they are introduced to. Class starts with a warm-up focusing on technique, strength, and flexibility followed by a fun upbeat dance routine and educational games.

  • Keyboarding & Study Skills with Miss Brown | Grades 3-5

    As schools move further into the digital age, the ability to operate a keyboard efficiently has never been more important.  In this enrichment course for upper elementary students, the development of good keyboarding form and techniques will be emphasized.  Additionally, students will be guided through important study skills like making flash cards, note-taking, active listening and time management. These FUNdamentals taught in a caring and supportive environment will build student confidence and positive self-esteem.

  • Sewing | Grades K-5

    Learn to hand sew and embroider with Miss Shannon's Sewing School. All projects teach different sewing skills beginning with learning how to sew on a button. All materials, supplies, and sewing kits are included.

    Take fingerprints, decode secret messages, search for clues, go on a
    scavenger hunt,and decipher our Escape Room! Explore the fascinating world of solving mysteries and develop observation and reasoning skills! Every student also receives their very own ID Badge and detective kit!

  • Tech Kids: Coding | Grades 3-5

    Create your own animations, programs, and games with MIT’s Scratch, Python, Box Island, and more! Computer programming helps with brain development, math skills, and logic, and is tons of fun!

  • CANCELLED: Griffin Book Gathering with Mrs. Levitt | Grades 2-3

    Join Mrs. Levitt, aka, Mrs. Possum, for a fun and uplifting book club on Tuesday afternoons. Second and third graders will find some cozy spots around campus where we will explore the worlds of Billy Miller, Stella Diaz, Winslow, Tag the Owl, Skyla the Squirrel, Tola, and Mac the Kid Spy. Do not fear if you have read these books already, there are many more books to discover! Our gatherings with friends may involve picnics, scavenger hunts, guest speakers, arts & crafts, cooking, and reading on the nature trail! Mrs. Levitt can’t wait for all bookworms to jump in!

    Join Ms. Ortega for this fun and active class for our older elementary students that teaches the fundamentals and basic knowledge of soccer. We welcome players of any level and experience. Through an assortment of fun games, drills, and trainings you will fall in love with this amazing sport!  Please note: students should come to class each week with their own shin guards.  All other materials and equipment will be provided by Ms. Ortega.

  • Chess and Board Games with Mr. Fox | Grades 3-5

    Are you in third through fifth grade and looking to sharpen your chess skills? Join Mr. Fox for this exciting enrichment program that teaches elementary-aged students the basics of chess. Students will improve their concentration and strategic thinking. Class time will include guided instruction as well as the opportunity to play other opponents, and alternate between chess and other games of strategy and logic.

  • Jazz Funk | Grades 2-5

    Jazz funk is an expressive and innovative form of dance that combines hip hop grooves with jazz technique. Students will learn fast paced combinations of movement while finding their own personal style. Class will begin with a warm up focusing on technique, strength and flexibility followed by a center floor combo.

  • Junior Hoops | Grades K-2

    Designed for our younger athletes and sports fans, Junior Hoops Rebel will teach players fundamental basketball skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball handling, while focusing on teamwork and sportsmanship.

  • Robot Workshop: Green Science | Grades 3-5

    Build 3 awesome robots to take home: the Aqua Robot, the 3-in-1
    Mini Solar Robot, and the Solar Rover Robot. Gain knowledge of
    alternative energy sources like Wind, Water, and Solar power as you

  • Woodworking: A Workshop for Kids | Grades K-5

    This class is a fun-filled introduction into the world of woodworking, specifically designed for beginners. Students will use fine motor skills to forge a strong connection between the hands and the mind. They are encouraged to try new ideas, exercise their imagination and creativity, and are allowed to make mistakes in a safe environment. With the guidance of an experienced artist/woodworker, children learn how to use tools safely, effectively, and (ultimately) independently. Students will have the opportunity to build a number of take-home projects that increase in complexity as they progress through their session.

  • Yoga and Mindfulness with Ms. Priolo | Grades K-5

    Join Ms. Priolo for a relaxing afternoon of yoga and mindfulness. Yoga and mindfulness practices have a positive effect on kids and learning. Yoga has been shown to enhance focus, concentration, comprehension, and memory. Poses help improve posture, balance, coordination, and body awareness. Yoga can also help create an atmosphere of confidence, enthusiasm, and non-competitiveness where everyone finds success, as well as providing opportunities for reflection, patience, and insight, reducing impulsivity, and supporting social and emotional learning.

  • Art Rebel: Eco Art | Grades K-5

    Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle is not only for Earth Day!  Join us for this fun spin on our beloved Art Rebel class. This session students will create new and unique art pieces by using recycled and repurposed materials.

  • Ceramics: The Animal Kingdom and Ligers Too | Grades 3-5

    Third through fifth grade students will design and build vessels and sculptures from clay inspired by real and imaginary animals. Clay will be glazed and fired in a kiln off-site and all artwork will be wrapped and returned to the students at the end of the session.  Please note that the 1:30 section is for 3rd-5th graders only.  The later session is for our younger students.

Be it Math, Science, History, Language Arts, Safety, or Nutrition, CKA utilizes an engaging and entertaining “stealth teaching technique” that has students completely unaware they are growing in vitally important and impactful ways. Students may think they are just having fun cooking phenomenally delicious recipes for an hour, but what they are truly doing is having experiences that will serve them well both socially and academically for a lifetime.  Please note that the 1:30 section is for students in grades K-2 only.  The later session is for our older students.

    Learn all about Dinosaurs in this fun, hands-on class! Explore the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous eras through all sorts of project-based activities: Dino Digs, fossil hunts, and ‘Dino of the Day’ activities! You even get your own Dinosaur Egg to take home with you!

    A fun energetic dance class for both experienced and brand new dancers. Students will learn the history and origin of hip hop dance and will be introduced to both old and new school hip hop dance styles and moves from the cabbage patch to the sturdy. They will learn how to isolate, wave and pop. class starts with a warm-up focusing on hip hop technique followed by a fun, energetic, and challenging dance routine, and educational games.

    Get ready to take your basketball skills to the next level
    with this advanced basketball program. Students will focus on dribbling, shooting, and ball handling skills. This program is ideal for those interested in playing competitively.

  • STEAMLab: Architecture Academy | Grades 3-5

    Part math, part science, and part art, this STEAM class has it all! Using assorted architectural & bridge building model sets, this class teaches basic drafting, scale, symmetry, proportion, and geometry. Students will build iconic models and learn about famous architects as they explore their creativity!

    Griffin Study Hall provides third through fifth graders a nurturing environment on campus to work with classmates and our amazing Buckley Faculty to polish study skills, complete homework assignments, or work on ongoing classroom projects. Ms. Murphy will help students build confidence while supporting their learning.

    Come on in so we can discuss everything Superhero! Join Miss Brown on a deep dive as we explore the characters of superheroes and superheroines. These famed characters typically possess superpowers and use these powers to help the world become a better place, dedicating themselves to protecting the public. Come find out what your superpower might be.

    Chess is an exciting educational experience. This class teaches students to play chess while stimulating problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and critical thinking skills. Each class has a lesson for beginners, a lesson for intermediate/advanced students, and playing time for everybody. Participants have the opportunity to earn certificates, medals, and trophies, and receive booklets to strengthen and reinforce the chess skills they are learning.

  • Intermediate Hip Hop | Grades 3-5

    A fun challenging dance class, where students will be introduced to various hip hop dance genres including old school, new school, locking, jazz funk, house and more. Class starts with a warm up focusing on strength, flexibility and hip hop technique followed by a challenging dance routine. Students will learn a brand new routine every few weeks to work on performance skills and retaining choreography.

    Fourth and fifth graders, Lower School Lounge is THE place to be after class dismisses! Looking for an easy way to start your afternoon or find a consistent hang with your Buckley besties?
     
    Consider the Lower School Lounge as a place you can work independently on homework, and puzzles, or do some open-ended crafting and creating. Even better, Lower School Lounge offers a teacher-supervised opportunity to simply catch up with and enjoy time with your friends. Invite a friend or two to join you in the Lower School Lounge.

  • Diamond Games with Coach Holland | Grades 2-4

    This program will focus on the skills, drills, and thrills of games like Kickball, Tee Ball, and Baseball. The children will be in a safe and fun environment so that they can comfortably learn new games. We will work to develop hand-eye coordination, and introduce and review throwing and catching mechanics, base running skills, and batting fundamentals. The children will learn teamwork, cooperation, problem-solving, and engage in mini games. We will consistently reinforce having fun, trying your best, and being kind and respectful.

  • Getting Crafty Disney Edition with Miss Brown | Grades K-1

    Calling all kindergarten and first grade Mousekateers- Miss Brown will facilitate fun games and craft projects each week which provide our younger students the opportunity to strengthen fine motor skills, gain independence, and foster creativity in a structured, safe, and supportive environment. These projects will have something very special in common, and that is the love of all things Disney! We hope to M I C- See you real soon.

  • Brain Games with Mr. Ayers | Grades K-5

    Bring your friends to end the week with fun and engaging games that will improve problem-solving skills, concentration, pattern recognition, and visual perception, while enhancing spatial recognition and increasing reaction time. Students will work alone and in pairs or groups to challenge themselves in a non-competitive and enjoyable way.

  • Nature Trail Adventure with Mrs. Levitt | Grades K-5

    Calling all nature lovers! Buckley Griffin wants you to join him and Mrs. Levitt, aka Mrs. Possum, each Friday afternoon under the canopy of coast live oak trees and chaparral in the Santa Monica Mountains on our famed nature trail to explore, observe, play, sketch, meditate, and enjoy the natural beauty right in our school canyon. Students will each receive their own nature toolkit with materials chosen to enhance their experience. Buckley Griffin and Mrs. Levitt cannot wait to explore with you!
     
    Please note: Your adventurous self may get dirty so please bring a change of shoes and clothes, a water bottle, hat, your sense of fun and a desire to explore.
