  • Animal Invasion

  • Anime, Cartooning, and Comic Book Creation

    Thursday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | Kindergarten through fifth grade
     
    Cartooning is a great way to learn how to sketch and draw. You will learn to create your own characters as well as popular characters from Disney, Anime, and more! Learn about storylines, design, coloring, and lettering, as you create your very own comic book!

  • Art Rebel

    Wednesday 1:30-3:05 p.m. | Kindergarten through fifth grade
     
    Art Rebel is an ARTstravaganza. Students enjoy creating original art with "outside the box" mediums. Each week is something new, exciting, and unique. Anything goes in this fun-filled course!

  • Brain Games with Mr. Ayers

    Friday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | Kindergarten through fifth grade
     
    Bring your friends to end the week with fun and engaging games that will improve problem-solving skills, concentration, pattern recognition, and visual perception, while enhancing spatial recognition and increasing reaction time. Students will work alone and in pairs or groups to challenge themselves in a non-competitive and enjoyable way.

  • Ceramics Masters Class - Joan Miro

    Monday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | Kindergarten through fifth grade
     
    Miro was a surrealist painter from Barcelona, Spain known for his imaginative painted creatures made from random shapes, and even turned much of his 2-dimensional work into sculptures. Students will discover Miro’s imaginative work and exercise their creativity, using geometric and organic shapes to create unusual clay characters.

  • Chess Club

    Wednesday 3:10-4:30 p.m. | Kindergarten through fifth grade
     
    Chess is an exciting educational experience. This class teaches students to play chess while stimulating problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and critical thinking skills. Each class has a lesson for beginners, a lesson for intermediate/advanced students, and playing time for everybody. Participants have the opportunity to earn certificates, medals, and trophies, and receive booklets to strengthen and reinforce the chess skills they are learning.

  • Culinary Kids Academy (K-2) & Culinary Kids Academy-Masters (3-5)

    Culinary Kids Academy is so excited to return to Buckley's afterschool program for our eleventh year! CKA is a revolutionary and amazingly FUN, educator-created, cooking program that empowers youth to expand their culinary comfort zones, increase their self-esteem, and encourages independence - all while learning standards-aligned academics...Oh, and they're having a BLAST while they do it! Be it Math, Science, History, Language Arts, Safety, or Nutrition, CKA utilizes an engaging and entertaining “stealth teaching technique” that has students completely unaware they are growing in vitally important and impactful ways. Students may think they are just having fun cooking phenomenally delicious recipes for an hour, but what they are truly doing is having experiences that will serve them well both socially and academically for a lifetime.

  • Dare to Draw with Ms. Richards

    Tuesday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | First through third grade
     
    Sharpen your pencils and ignite your imagination! Ms. Richards is excited to share her love of art and literature in this fun and heartfelt program. Each week, a fresh and engaging children’s book will be presented, followed by a step-by-step drawing activity inspired by the beloved story. In a warm, tranquil learning atmosphere, technical expertise will be emphasized and creativity encouraged. Students will build a diverse portfolio of their masterpieces to cherish for years to come.

  • Diamond Games with Coach Holland

    Thursday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | First through third grade
     
    This program will focus on the skills, drills, and thrills of games like Kickball, Tee Ball, and Baseball. The children will be in a safe and fun environment so that they can comfortably learn new games. We will work to develop hand-eye coordination, introduce and review throwing and catching mechanics, base running skills, and batting fundamentals. The children will learn teamwork, cooperation, problem-solving, and engage in mini-games. We will consistently reinforce having fun, trying your best, and being kind and respectful.

  • Extended Day Program

    Our extended day program is offered daily from the conclusion of Beyond the Bell programs at 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to refresh with an allergen-free snack, engage in supervised playtime, enjoy a good book, or work on completing school assignments. Participants must sign up for a Beyond the Bell program for each day of the week that they enroll in the extended day program. Students will be picked up and signed out each day by a parent or guardian from the extended day location no later than 6:00 p.m.

  • Games, Games, Games with Coach Holland

    Monday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | First through fourth grade
     
    This program will cover many of the games and activities that we study in physical education. We will play a variety of sports like hockey, diamond games, volleyball, tennis, cricket and many more. The children will work on skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork.  We will also play many fun tag games and participate in fitness activities. This program is designed for the children to have lots of fun and find success at every turn.

  • Graffiti Rebel

    Monday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | Second through fifth grade
     
    Street Art & Graffiti are now at the forefront of the art scene. This program allows your aspiring Street artists to learn the basic fundamentals of this art form. This is a don’t miss class for any elementary-aged artist.

  • Griffin Sports Rebel

    Wednesday 1:30-3:05 p.m.| Second through fifth grade
     
    Why choose one sport when you can spend some time enjoying a sampling of them? This fun-filled program will focus on skill-building in soccer, basketball, and flag football. There will be an emphasis on both fundamental skills as well as sportsmanship and teamwork.

  • Hip-Hop

    Wednesday 1:30-3:05 p.m. | Kindergarten through second grade
     
    A fun energetic dance class for both experienced and brand-new dancers. Students will learn the history and origin of hip-hop dance and will be introduced to both old and new school hip-hop dance styles - from the cabbage patch to the whoa. They will learn how to isolate, wave and pop. Each class starts with a warm-up focusing on hip hop techniques, followed by a fun, energetic, and challenging dance routine and educational games. Please note that there will not be a culminating performance for families during this shortened session, which makes the course ideal for students who love to dance, but are hesitant to perform.

  • Intermediate Hip-Hop

    Wednesday 3:10-4:30 p.m. | Third through fifth grade
     
    A fun challenging dance class, where students will be introduced to various hip hop dance genres including old school, new school, locking, jazz-funk, house, and more. Class starts with a warm-up focusing on strength, flexibility, and hip-hop technique followed by a challenging dance routine. students will learn a brand-new routine every few weeks to work on performance skills and retaining choreography. Please note that there will not be a culminating performance for families during this shortened session, which makes the course ideal for students who love to dance, but are hesitant to perform.

  • Jedi Training Academy

    Thursday 2:40-4:30 p.m. | Kindergarten through third grade
     
    The Force will be with you as you learn the ways of the Jedi! Play Star Wars games, build Star Wars vehicles and go from Padawan to Jedi Knight in one session! You will play characters, learn to draw the Clone Wars cartoon characters, create your own Jedi uniform, and even take home your very own Light Saber!

  • Krafty Kinders with Ms. Chenny

    Monday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | Kindergarten
     
    What do you get when you cross kindergarten readiness with arts and crafts? Krafty Kinders, of course! Kindergarten readiness is made fun in this enrichment course with our amazing learning specialist, Genevieve Chenoweth. Ms. Chenny will facilitate fun games and craft projects each week with the kindergartners which provide them the opportunity to strengthen fine motor skills, gain independence and foster creativity in a structured, safe, and supportive environment. The addition of familiar stories and songs will make learning fun! Particular attention will be paid to pencil grip, cutting skills, early literacy skills, and familiarizing participants with the proper use of school supplies and learning materials.

  • Lego Robotics

    Wednesday 1:30-3:05 p.m. | Kindergarten through third grade
     
    Students build new and different projects each week as they graduate from simple machines to motorized mechanisms, to robotics with basic programming. They’ll learn all about engineering principles such as gears, wheels, axles, levers, and pulleys. This class is as fun as it is educational!

  • MatheMagic

In this class, students learn to use logic and other rhetorical tools to support their positions and to express themselves succinctly and skillfully. Students learn to walk and talk with assuredness and purpose, overcome jitters, and deliver speeches with confidence and animation!

  • Retro Recess Rebel

    Tuesday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | Kindergarten through third grade
     
    Get ready for some good old-fashioned recess fun. If your child thinks SPUD! is just a potato, RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT is just another traffic jam, and MOTHER MAY I is just a polite way to ask for some allowance, then they need to sign up for Retro Recess! This time machine of an enrichment class will bring back childhood favorites that help kids let off steam, build teamwork skills, and improve physical fitness, all while having good, old-fashioned, recess fun.

  • STEAMLab: Architecture Academy

    Part math, part science, and part art, this STEAM class has it all! Using assorted architectural & bridge building model sets, this class teaches basic drafting, scale, symmetry, proportion, and geometry. Students will build iconic models and learn about famous architects as they explore their creativity!

  • Tech Kidz: Video Game Design

  • Woodworking: A Workshop for Kids

    Tuesday 2:30-4:30 p.m. | Kindergarten through fifth grade
     
    This class is a fun-filled introduction to the world of woodworking, specifically designed for beginners. Students will use fine motor skills to forge a strong connection between the hands and the mind. They are encouraged to try new ideas, exercise their imagination and creativity, and are allowed to make mistakes in a safe environment. With the guidance of an experienced artist/woodworker, children learn how to use tools safely, effectively, and (ultimately) independently. Students will have the opportunity to build a number of take-home projects that increase in complexity as they progress through their session.
