Buckley students and faculty members attended the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) and People of Color Conference (PoCC) in Nashville.
This year, SDLC celebrated its 25th anniversary. Our students joined 1,640 high school students from across the US and seven other countries with the amazing SDLC faculty, led by Rodney Glasgow, featuring silent movement and other identity development and leadership activities.
Students and faculty participated in workshops and affinity group sessions and listened to thoughtful remarks by Nashville’s mayor, David Briley; a keynote address by journalist and author, Lisa Ling; and a presentation by Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund.
Upper School students of Spanish 3 Honors, Spanish 4 Honors, and AP Spanish attended the dress rehearsal of the opera, El último sueño de Frida y Diego, and stopped for lunch at the Pueblo de Los Angeles on Olvera Street.
