On Thursday, November 15, the entire ninth grade experienced Los Angeles during the first installment of their Intersections of Identity Field Trip as part of their service learning requirement.
Students had the opportunity to explore the changing identity of the city across multiple locations, visiting different city organizations and museums with platforms of social changes including the Watts Towers Arts Center, Grand Central Market, Little Tokyo, and The Autry Museum-La Raza exhibit.
Intersections of Identity provides an opportunity for students to learn about themselves and the world around them in the context of identity, lived experience, and connection. This field trip extended the exploration into the larger Los Angeles community, so students could engage with, contextualize, and analyze some of our city’s most pressing issues.
Upper School students of Spanish 3 Honors, Spanish 4 Honors, and AP Spanish attended the dress rehearsal of the opera, El último sueño de Frida y Diego, and stopped for lunch at the Pueblo de Los Angeles on Olvera Street.
