Mayor Eric Garcetti Visits Buckley

Yesterday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti visited The Buckley School.
Mayor Garcetti spoke to third and fourth grade classes before presenting at the Lower School Assembly. He began the assembly by sharing an anecdote from his own childhood, “When I was a little bit older than you, the Los Angeles Mayor came to speak to my class in school. It was a mayor named Tom Bradley, who was probably the best mayor we’ve ever had and will ever have. He served for 20 years, and I remember that he was very tall and he had a lot of charisma, and he was very committed to building a new Los Angeles. Now, truthfully, I don’t remember anything that he said, but I remember that he was at my school — so, remember, you guys don’t have to remember anything I say, but just remember I was at your school!”

Mayor Garcetti spoke to the Lower School about different city resources, as well as the importance of giving back and treating others with kindness. He closed with an important message for our youngest students: “I might be the mayor, but this is your city.”
