Junior parent Lisa Cerone nominated Dr. G after being approached by editor-in-chief of Ventura Blvd, Linda Grasso, to help round out the list of brilliant and accomplished women for the prestigious issue. “She had no shortage of powerful entrepreneurs and corporate leaders but there was one spot left and she wanted my input,” said Cerone. “So I asked, ‘How about a teacher? I know one that will blow your mind.’”
Cerone sent Grasso some links and quotes from her son and his friends; they had been spending their summer mornings with Dr. G in the lab. According to Cerone, that was what convinced Grasso that Dr. G belonged in the issue. “Linda has two teen sons, so she knew something extraordinary was going on when she learned that 16-year-old boys were willingly working in a lab at school during their summer break!”
