Count 'Em: More Than 800 Toys Donated to Foster Children's Resource Center!

“In an amazing show of generosity, our Buckley community pitched in and donated roughly a third of our toys today!” wrote K-8 Service Learning Coordinator Chris Braunschweiger in an email to faculty on Monday.
The Buckley Toy Drive has been going on since early December, but was not hampered by the fires that caused the school to close last week.

“We had so many toys come in at the last minute (Monday), we couldn’t even count them all,” wrote Braunschweiger.

The collection goal was 200 toys for Middle and Upper School with a similar amount for Lower School. Braunschweiger was happy to report that over 300 toys were brought in by Middle and Upper School students, while the Lower School brought in between 500 and 600 toys!

Lower and Middle School student council members went to Foster Children’s Resource Center yesterday to unload the toys, all of which are destined for the hands of local foster children. Buckley students prepped the toys, sorted them, and placed them in the appropriate location on the shelves.

“Thank you to all the members of our community for making this drive such an incredible success even though it was three days shorter than planned,” wrote Braunschweiger. “I am so proud of our thoughtful, generous community members.”
