A Perfect Score

Another Buckley first!
Junior German S. became a “national student leader” in the Continential Calculus League competition, by earning earn a perfect score on all four tests. He was one of only 13 students in the U.S. to do this.

“We’ve never had a student like this,” says his teacher Joanne Ryan, who will be stepping down as math department chair this month and retiring at the end of the 2017-18 school year. “He’s just phenomenal.”

In addition, German placed eighth in the national advanced math MathFax competition.

Buckley also placed 11th in the nation for Math 6 (sixth grade), with included Lauren K. and Sophia T., and Jonah N. placing 33, 35, and 38 respectively. 
 
Buckley ranked tenth nationally in Pre-Algebra, and 13th in Algebra I. In Geometry, our mathlete Griffins ranted 13,and in Algebra II eleventh. In grade 9, Rachel P. ranked 29, and in grade 10 Collette K. and Ryan V. were 37th and 39th.
 
In Advanced Math, Buckley came in seventh in the nation, with German ranking 8th, seniors Adam M., Henri S., and Sophia L. 18 and 19,  and 20. Sophomores  Lillian L.  and Riley S.-H. were 23 and 30, juniors  Taylor S. and Dabney W. were 32 and 33, and Ashley K. is 34. Sophomore Sam Z. came in 34 and &freshman Gabe G. 35.

In the MathCounts competition, Buckley placed eighth overall at the San Fernando Valley Chapter Competition at CSUN.
