News at Buckley

Welcome Back, K-2!

It was so great to see our kindergarten, first, and second grade students on campus today!
Students had so much fun seeing friends on this gorgeous day, moving around campus and doing physical activities outside. We can’t wait to see them again on Friday, and to see our third, fourth, and fifth grade students starting next week. Enjoy these photos from our incredible day!

Our Re-opening Plan
Because of cohorting, meal times, social distancing, and testing, we are taking our time bringing back students slowly, with the intention of doing so safely. After spring break, we’ll have another phase of re-opening; we’re excited about having increased time on campus for Lower School and hopeful that the county modifies cohorting regulations to align with our Middle and Upper School program. For now, we are thrilled to see our re-entry going so smoothly and joyfully.

Safety Measures
  • COVID Testing: Buckley requires that anyone returning to campus must submit a negative COVID test result taken between Monday and Wednesday the week prior.
  • Temperature Check & Screening Questions: When arriving on campus, students undergo a temperature check and answer screening questions at the campus entrance before exiting their vehicle. Anybody with a temperature over 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit is not allowed on campus. To accommodate for delays due to check-ins, drop-off and pick-up times are staggered by grade level.
  • Outdoor Activities: Lunch and snack are eaten outside. P.E. is taught outside.
  • Classes: Classes are placed in cohorts with one teacher. Desks are physically distanced. Specialist classes are taught through Zoom in the classroom.
  • Masks & Hygiene: Everyone on campus is required to wear a face mask all day, with the exception of eating times. Hygiene regimens will be practiced and reinforced.
