World Dance Workshop Goes Virtual!

Last Friday, more than 50 Upper School students participated in our theatre and dance department’s annual World Dance Workshop!
This year it was virtual, hosted by our dance faculty, Laura Bamford and Brittany Daniels, along with world-renowned professional dancers.

Throughout the day, students took master classes in West African dance with Makeda Kumasi, Hula with Joselyn Arciaga, and Middle Eastern Bellydance with Shannon Lewallen.

The goal of the WDW is to give students an immersive day of cultural and artistic diversity through dance. By taking these classes, dance students deepen their understanding of the way dance helps to define and connect people within their own culture, as well as the ways dance connects people across cultures, socioeconomic differences, gender, and personal identities.

Thank you to our incredible teachers and guests for taking Buckley’s WDW virtual!
