Seniors & Athletes on Campus

The division heads and our plant operations/health and safety team have been working to develop a schedule to invite to campus advisory groups in the Middle/Upper School and half-homeroom groups in the Lower School. We began to pilot this program with our athletes and seniors.

After seven months of quarantine, it’s clear that no student's emotional and mental health needs are being met through remote learning. We heard through student surveys and parent/family conferences that the vast majority would benefit immensely from even 90 minutes of outdoor wellness activities led by Buckley’s faculty and staff. Luckily, the LA County Department of Health has recently enabled schools to identify students with needs that cannot be met through remote learning and then bring to campus 10% of the school’s total enrollment in cohorts of 12 students or fewer with one or two adults.

Our Upper School student-athletes are now able to return to the Buckley campus (off-campus for select teams) and train for their sport, and on Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9, we invited our seniors back onto campus for fun wellness activities in their advisories. We will soon welcome other students onto campus, so please look out this week for a schedule of other grades!
