Vale R. Creates Strings of Support
Student Vale R. created a website, Strings of Support (SOS), to provide happiness to senior citizens living in nursing homes during the pandemic, as they are especially impacted and isolated due to COVID-19.
"SOS provides a website where my fellow orchestra members (including Mr. Houser) submit videos of their performances," Vale explained. "This idea began during spring break when we were ordered to stay at home. I felt so bad for people who were alone. A family friend lives in a nursing home and could not be visited by any family members. I sent her a video of me playing the violin along with a greeting. It really cheered her up. To my surprise, she and her friends asked for more."
