Brayden S. Wins Earth Watch Prize

Junior Brayden S. won the Earth Watch Prize at the LA Science & Engineering Fair, and will be advancing to the California State Science Fair.
Last year, Brayden became interested in studying how the oceans are becoming red. He started studying how poisonous cyanobacteria infect funguses, subsequently destroying ecosystems. Brayden worked to ensure that the mediums he used to create bacteria were perfect, and his hard work paid off; he won Earth Watch, one of the biggest prizes at the LA Science Fair.

As part of this project, Brayden’s next step will be to determine when the infection begins and continue at the California State Science Fair. The Earth Watch prize also includes an opportunity for Brayden to take an all-expense paid trip to work with field scientists. He hopes to spend his summer tagging sharks in the ocean near Costa Rica.

Amazing work, Brayden!
