Buckley Students Visit JPL

The astronomy and aerospace classes visited the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
Students got the VIP experience, taking an exclusive tour of JPL. During the tour, they visited Mission Control, the Center of the Universe plaque, as well as models of all of the rovers and the Mars 2020 rover clean room. They were also able to submit their resumes for future internship opportunities.

In astronomy, students have been learning about the solar system through engineering. One of the themes in the class is how science fiction inspires space exploration and discovery; students have recently been completing a project about a hypothetical space colony, exploring how we might settle on Mars--or even on a planet in another galaxy! Visiting the control room, an iconic spot for space exploration, as well as the clean room where the rovers were assembled, helped bring these lessons to life for our students.
