World Language Department Participates in “Intercambio”

On Wednesday, January 30, our World Language Department welcomed students and instructors from a college preparatory school located in Tijuana, México, CETYS, to Buckley and to Los Angeles.
This exchange program, or “intercambio,” began in the summer of 2016, with a linguistic and cultural exchange between students and educators. In February of 2017, six Buckley students visited the CETYS campus in Tijuana. The CETYS and Buckley students shared presentations, engaged in activities, and learned about Tijuana and Los Angeles.

Before they begin sharing their research on urban art and muralists from our two cities, students in C period - Spanish IV Honors and CETYS students completed a digital scavenger hunt, taking videos, photos, and more. During this bilingual interaction, CETYS students met Buckley faculty and staff members as well as students.

After the student presentations, faculty and students from both schools took a trip to Downtown Los Angeles and Boyle Heights, visiting cultural destinations and even enjoying tacos!
