Through her professional training and artistic experiences, Maya has seen firsthand the power of the performingarts.
She wants to share her artistic passion with others, especially those who are extremely talented but don’t havethe financial resources to pay for classes and training.
In 2016, Maya created HeARTS of Maya, a non-profit, 501c3 foundation which provides educational scholarshipsto youth who want to pursue the arts, specifically music, acting, and/or dancing. Through this foundation, Mayahopes to not only assist talented youth but encourage others to “Find the ART in their HeARTS.”
Students in grades seven through twelve took to the stage on April 22 and 23 for the Spring Dance Festival. To celebrate dance and the human spirit, Disconnect/Reconnect showcased student and faculty choreography, informed by personal journeys, aspirations, world events, and social justice issues.
With the leadership of interim science department chair Anat Fernandes, fifth grade students ventured to green space by the K-2 playground to learn about plants native to California, how to plant, and the importance of Earth Day.
