  • Creative Writing

"Practice, practice, practice writing. Writing is a craft that requires both talent and acquired skills. You learn by doing, by making mistakes, and then seeing where you went wrong." - Jeffrey A. Carver

All writing is creative and all writing is persuasive. Whether you enjoy creative expression or are looking to stretch and reenergize your use of language, this course is designed to help you develop your sense of style and voice by examining the use of syntax and diction in your own writing as well as sample texts. We will explore poetry, short stories, and personal narratives as well as specific techniques and tips to help build a personalized Writer's Toolkit. (Enrollment limited to 18 students entering seventh or eighth grade).
