Resilient Explorers Host First-Ever Pop-Up Thrift Shop

Megan M. ’23, communications intern and president, Fashion Club
This, the Climate Action Team and Fashion Club collaborated to host Buckley’s first-ever Pop-Up Thrift Shop right on campus in the CCA Courtyard!
The student-led event was held to raise awareness of the effects on the environment of fast fashion and promote waste reduction. With more than 150 billion garments being produced each year and 80 percent of all clothing ending up in landfills or incinerated, purchasing second-hand is more important than ever.

We are all faced with the daunting reality of the climate crisis, so members of the Climate Action Team and Fashion Club, along with the faculty/staff team of Green Buckley decided to collect donations of clothing items from members of our community and give them a new life by putting them back into circulation. Thanks to everyone who volunteered at the event and their mentors, Ms. Fernandes, Ms. Sekler, and Mr. Sacon.

The event was a huge success, raising over $900 that will help us fund green initiatives at Buckley. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated clothing!
