Arts and Crafts? No, Design Thinking!

In Mr. Sacon’s Design Thinking exploratory class, seventh grade students were tasked with building a table using only newspaper, cardboard, and masking tape. Then they tested how many textbooks it could hold.
The winning table? A structure with suspension that supported 18 books!

Other “mini design challenges” have included building towers from uncooked spaghetti and marshmallows, reimagining the backpack, and improving on an everyday object.

Today’s class involves picking a random challenge from a hat – teams will be asked to do anything from build a seven-and-a-half-inch paper bridge, to design the perfect restaurant, or draw 50 faces in five minutes.
