Lower School Students Gobble Gobble Gave

This year’s Thanksgiving community service project, Gobble Gobble Give, brought students and parent volunteers in grades one through three together to assemble toiletry bags for the homeless.
Moving down a table laden with boxes of small travel items, students assembled large plastic bags filled with shampoo, combs, and toothpaste, and brought them to the next station, where a hand-made card was ready to be put inside each bag.

Other students were busy at work making those cards, each writing Thanksgiving messages inside. This is the second year dance teacher Laura Bamford has organized this service play date. Last year students assembled 177 toiletry bags. This year the sixty-one students (up last year from twenty-seven) put together an astounding 260 toiletry bags, with some extra supplies to donate.

Gobble Gobble Give is a service organization that has fed the homeless for Thanksgiving for the past seventeen years. Last year the organization was able to feed over 3,000 homeless men and women. Students were shown a video from Gobble Gobble Give so they could better understand who would benefit from their toiletry bags. You can watch that video here.
