Dare to be Brilliant
The statement Dare to Be Brilliant acknowledges that in addition to being exciting and fun, learning takes courage. From our campus design to our teaching styles and curriculum planning, our goal is to create a learning environment that is simultaneously safe and inspiring so that Buckley students take academic risks - from raising their hands to stretching to meet the demands of an Advanced Placement class. By taking on these personal challenges, students build confidence and a life-long love of learning.
Our Lower School blends tradition and structure with progressive methodologies to develop self-aware, curious and creative students, and strong writers who are ready for our Middle School program. Buckley was an early leader in Middle School education and our program is specifically designed for the special needs of this age group. The curriculum is aimed at developing the thinking and study skills required for high school. In the Upper School, every student learns a core curriculum that our faculty considers crucial to a comprehensive liberal arts education.
The necessity for a balanced program of study as a means of enriching the student's life cannot be stressed too much... The curriculum should begin with essential groundwork and progress to provide the highest standard possible for the individual student.”
Dr. Isabelle Buckley, Founder
The success of our academic program can be seen in the active imaginations and appetites for learning of our students. But our academic success can also be measured by the fact that our students excel in national math, science, and foreign language competitions, our debate team sets state records and has earned national recognition. Each year Buckley graduates are accepted at the country's most selective colleges and universities.
